Commander 22 Brigade reassures IFELODUN, Isin community of improved security measures

Omu-Aran (basic reporter) The commander, 22 battleships, the brigade general Ezra Barkins, has reassured the IFELODUN and ISIN communities of best security measures. Brig. General Barkins, in the company of the police commissioner of the State of Kwara, CP Adekimi Ojo, and the director of the Department of State Services (DSS), Kwara State Command, Michael Oganwu, Saturday 13 September 2025, visited Omu-Aran in IFelodun and Isin areas of the local government of the State of Kwara.

The visit followed a rescue call from the executive governor of the state of Kwara, Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, for the violent protests of young people against the growing raptures of kidnapping for redemption within their communities.

The Lessi young people blocked the sections of the Omu-Aran-Elyin-Ajase road in Isin LGA, thus stopping the movement of commuters and creating tension in the area.

Troops of 22 armored brigades, led by the Brigata Barkins General, in collaboration with the police and the DSS, quickly mobilized on the scene. The joint team dispersed the demonstrators, restored the order and eliminated the road to the free traffic flow. Some identified coverings of the protest were arrested and delivered to the Kwara State Police Command for investigations and further actions.

Speaking after the operation, Barkins Brigadier General reassured the residents of the commitment of the Nigerian army for their safety and warned against violent protests. He urged young people to explore legitimate and peaceful channels to express grievances, reaffirming the importance of cooperation with safety agencies in the fight against kidnapping and other criminal activities.

The commander of the brigade also appeals for a close collaboration between residents and security agents, underlining that security is a collective responsibility that requires timely and credible information from the communities to allow quick intervention.

Later, the security leaders met the president, the area of ​​the local government (LGA), the honorable Jolayemmi Benjamin, the village heads and other interested parties. During the meeting, the interested parties were invited to recommend young people against violence and strengthen cooperation with safety agencies. Hon. Benjamin praised the quick intervention of the joint team and has ensured continuous support for LGA in efforts to restore peace and stability in the area.
