Convenler Upm, Ayinla EGBA tells inhabitaun: Back Road Repair Promising With Action, Transparency

United Premier Movement (UPM) converse in Abeokuta,The chief Olalekan Shoyinka, popularly known as Ayinla EGBA, urged the state government of Ogun to integrate his latest announcement of road repairs at state level with transparency, responsibility and measurable delivery.

Shoyinka, he praised the governor Dapo Inhabitun for what he described as a proactive attempt to face Ogun’s reputation as “State with the poorest roads of Nigeria”.

While applauding the government’s decision to mobilize road maintenance teams in all 20 areas of the local government, Shoyinka insisted that the residents were no longer influenced by promises and press statements, but wanted to see visible tests of the field work.

“Although we appreciate the rapid declaration of Engr. Babunde Adhesina, special consultant on public works, we must remind the administration that the shares – not the press releases – Ripa,” he said.

The lawyer recalled that in July 2024, the commissioner for the works, Eng. Hades Akinsanya, promised that 120 roads through the 20 LGA would be rehabilitated, but no complete report was presented on the progress of this commitment.

To restore confidence, Shoyinka has outlined the key measures for the government, including the publication of a complete list of targeted roads with realistic timing, disclosing contractors who manage projects, updating residents about previous commitments and adopting the monitoring of the community through local leaders, engineers, groups of civil and medium society.

According to him, transparency and public participation are fundamental if the administration wants to convince the residents of Ogun that their taxes are put to work.

“Let the roar of the selectors and the view of the asphalt on long -drag roads replace the echo of political insurance,” said Shoyinka. “Ogun State deserves roads on which we can drive, not just roads we can read.”

He underlined that an effective road rehabilitation would not only restore public confidence in the government, but would also stimulate trade, facilitate transport and make communities in the whole state more accessible.
