Argentina secured their place in the 2024 Copa America quarter-finals through Lautaro Martinez’s late goal, beating Chile 1-0 at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.
The defending champion dominated with 22 shots, as Julian Alvarez and Nicolas Gonzalez initially tested Chile’s Claudio Bravo.

Despite Argentina dominating the game, Chile’s first real threat came in the 72nd minute, when Rodrigo Echeverria’s shot was saved by Emiliano Martinez.
Chile gained momentum, but it was Lautaro Martinez who grabbed the winner in the 88th minute, maintaining Argentina’s unbeaten record against Chile in the Copa America.
Argentina are top of Group A and are certain to finish in the top two with one game remaining. They will play their final group game against Peru on Sunday.
