Cope and Live Foundation Save SilverNews for the successful hosting of Wakawaka Sports Icon Awards

Foundation Loda focuses on the mental health of the athletes, celebrates the recognition of forgotten sports icons

The Cope and Live Mental Health Awareness Foundation applauded SilverNews Communications and its CEO, Comrade Kennedy Onwunali, for the successful hosting of the inaugural edition of the Wakawaka Sports Icon Awards held in Owerri on June 7, 2025.

In a praise letter signed by the executive director of the Foundation, the reverend Chukwudiebube Nwachukwu, the event was described as a “bold and impactful step” to promote the often neglected topic of mental health in the world of sport.

The event characterized an address of Keynote entitled “The mental health of vital athletes for leading performances”, delivered by the coach Ebere Amraiizu, president of the Rangers International Football Club (Rifc) Foundation and main consultant at the Cope and Live Mental Health Awareness Foundation.

According to the Foundation, the award ceremony not only celebrated excellence in sport, but also brought the importance of psychological resilience for athletes to the front line, a problem often obscured by physical results.
