Court of Appeal rejects appeal by Danish man convicted of murdering wife and daughter

The Court of Appeal, Lagos, on Friday, dismissed the appeal filed by Danish national, Peter Nielsen, who was sentenced to death for killing his Nigerian wife and daughter.

Nielsen was sentenced to death by hanging by a Lagos High Court on May 20, 2022, after he was found guilty of murdering his wife Zainab alias Alizee, and their three-year-old daughter, Petra.

Justice Bolanle Okikiolu-Ighile found the 54-year-old guilty of the first and second counts of murder brought against him by the Lagos State government.

Nielsen, dissatisfied with his sentence, appealed to the appeals court to overturn it.

However, in a hearing on Friday, the appeals court dismissed the appeals court’s request as lacking merit.

The three-member panel ruled that the respondent (Lagos State Government) proved its case against the appellant beyond a reasonable doubt.
