National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) leader Ganiyu Oyedepo, also known as Koko Zaria, has been remanded in custody by the Lagos Chief Magistrate’s Court for allegedly assaulting Nollywood star Alhaji Ade Adele, also known as Baba Lawori.
Kokozaria was charged with assaulting Lawori and planning the crime with his men. The charges have been classified as a threat to the actor’s life.
Adele was allegedly attacked by Koko Zaria and his associates on June 5, 2024, in Idimu, Lagos, and sustained injuries from bottles following an altercation.
The Nollywood actor was injured with broken glass and had his head smashed by one of Kokozaria’s men, according to court documents circulating online.
Kokozaria was charged in court with four counts of assault causing hurt, conspiracy to commit a crime, instructing a boy to hurt another person, and intentionally disturbing public order, the article said.
In charge number B/40/2024, the public prosecutor, Morufu Animashaun, a legal officer at FCIID, Alagbon, told the court that the accused had conspired with some of his “men” to attack Adele on June 5, 2024, in Idimu.

He added that during the attack, Adele was hit on the head with a bottle used by Oyedepo’s men.
The prosecutor informed the judge that the accused was guilty of an offence punishable under section 168 (2) of the same law as well as sections 411, 173 and 168 (l)(d) of the Criminal Law Chapter C17, Vol. 3, Laws of Lagos State.
The charge is “That you Ganiyu Oyedepo on or about the 25th day of June, 2024 at Idimu, Lagos in the Lagos Magisterial District, Lagos did conspire to commit the Crime of: Assault Causing Harm and did commit the Offence contrary to Section 411 of the Criminal Law Chapter C17, Vol. 3, Laws of Lagos State
“That you, Oyedepo, on the said date unlawfully brought one of your men (who is still at large) who unlawfully broke a bottle and injured Alhaji Ade Adele’s head and committed a Criminal Act contrary to Section 173 of the Penal Code Chapter C17, Vol. 3, Laws of Lagos State 2015.
“That you, Oyedepo, acted in a manner likely to cause disturbance of peace when you threatened and ordered one of your men (who is now at large) to break a bottle on Adele’s head and committed an Offence contrary to Section 168 (l)(d) of the Criminal Law Chapter C17, Vol. 3, Laws of Lagos State 2015 and punishable under Section 168 (2) of the same Criminal Law Chapter C17, Vol. 3, Laws of Lagos State 2015.”
