Justice Peter Lifu issued the order following an ex-parte application by the DSS, which argued that the freeze was necessary to provide unhindered access to the accounts. The affected banks include Opay Digital Services Limited, Access Bank, United Bank for Africa, Guaranty Trust Bank, Union Bank of Nigeria, Moniepoint Microfinance Bank, First Bank of Nigeria and First City Monument Bank.

Two others, Yehusa Idris and Abdullahi Babayo Umar, have been detained in connection with alleged terrorism. The DSS had asked for a 90-day freeze, but Judge Lifu granted 60 days, stressing the need for a thorough and expeditious investigation.
