The case was brought by Consolidated Group, managed by the political leader of the Movement for Progressive Change (MPC), Simeon Freeman, who accused SATCON and K3 Telecom of showing exclusive DSTV content, which includes the English Premier League and La Liga.

The Consolidated Group said it lost over US$5.1 million due to the unauthorized broadcasts of content by SATCON. The Supreme Court ruled that SATCON knowingly broke the law and harmed the rights of DSTV’s owners. The court has now banned SATCON from broadcasting the content and warned that any further violations will lead to contempt charges. -Othello B. Garblah.
