Navy arrests personnel involved in clash with soldiers in Bayelsa


The Nigerian Navy has confirmed the arrest of personnel involved in a public altercation with other military officers in Bayelsa State during President Bola Tinubu’s visit to commission projects on Friday.

Tinubu had inaugurated 60 megawatt gas turbine plants at Elebele, Ogbia Local Government Area of ​​Bayelsa.

The President also inaugurated other projects implemented by the Governor Douye Diri-led administration such as the 630 meter Angiama-Oporoma Bridge, Sagbama/Ekeremor Road and 2.9km Dual Carriageway in Yenagoa.

The clash occurred while Tinubu was leaving the venue of an event.

Reacting to the incident in a post via his handle

“The affected personnel are in custody and already subjected to appropriate administrative and disciplinary procedures in accordance with existing military regulations,” he wrote.

The incident, which has since gone viral, was captured on video showing a heated confrontation between Nigerian army personnel and navy personnel.
