The Nigerian Customs Service (NCS) has called for commitment from all stakeholders to ensure the successful implementation of the National Single Window (NSW) initiative aimed at simplifying Nigeria’s import and export processes through a unified digital platform.
The Zonal Coordinator for Zone ‘A’, Assistant Comptroller General (ACG) Mohammed Babandede, made the call at the National One Window Stakeholder Engagement Forum held in Lagos.
The event, according to a statement issued on Friday by the National Public Relations Officer for Customs, Abdullahi Maiwada, was jointly organized by the National Single Window Project Secretariat and the Nigerian Customs Service (NCS), attracting participants from government agencies, the import and export sector, and trade associations.

In his opening remarks, Babandede emphasized that the success of this project requires collaboration and adaptability from all players in the trading ecosystem.
“The success of this project does not depend on the government alone. This requires all of us to play our part. This requires openness to change, a willingness to adopt new ways of working, and patience in facing the inevitable challenges that come from every major transformation,” he said.
“You will definitely agree with me, the more efficient we make our ports, the more competitive our ports will be. And producers and stakeholders will also be able to predict the results.”
National One Window Project Director and Head of Secretariat, Tola Fakolade, highlighted the importance of this engagement as the project approaches the launch of the first phase.
“As we launch the first phase of this project, it is critical to ensure that all our key stakeholders fully understand the scope of what we are doing and how this project will impact what they do,” he said.
