Dangote’s refinery will begin its free fuel distribution plan on Monday 15 September 2025 starting from Lagos, South West, Abuja, Kwara, Delta, Rivers and Edo.
Anthony Chiejina, spokesman for the Dangote group, said that the initiative aims to provide relief to millions of Nigerians by offering fuel at reduced prices. “We are starting the Free fuel distribution Scheme on Monday, starting from Lagos and States of the South -ovest, Abuja, Kwara, Delta, Rivers and Edo. Prices will decrease at the beginning of the distribution, “he said.
The retail petrol prices were reduced to N841 per liter in Lagos and in the South -ovest and N851 per liter in Abuja, Edo, Kwara, rivers and delta. The company expects this to alleviate financial charges and stimulate the economic activity.
Over 1,000 trucks have already reached the refinery to support the program, with more states that are expected to benefit as additional trucks are distributed. The refinery is also launching a fleet of compressed natural gas (CNG) truck to strengthen logistics and reduce distribution costs.
Despite the recent increases in methane prices, Dangote remains engaged in a 10,000 CNG truck launch this year. The free fuel distribution scheme, initially scheduled for August, has been delayed due to logistical problems in China.
