Dangote Nass activity on the “Nigeria First” policy, expands the refinery to 700,000 BPDs

The richest man in Africa, Aliko Dangote, has invited the National Assembly to issue legislation that will strengthen the “Nigeria First” policy of the Federal Government, underlining that no nation can reach industrialization through external forces.

Dangote, who spoke of the refinery of Dangote in Lagos, said that Nigeria and other African countries must take the ownership of their economic development by industrializing at the local level rather than relying on imports.

“Other nations have not been industrialized by strangers. We must build and industrialize our economies. Without this, how can others invest? That’s why I believe that the national assembly should issue legislation to support the” Nigeria First “policy of the federal government,” he said.

He warned that the continuous dependence on foreign products is equivalent to “exporting jobs and importing of poverty”, adding that several rich investors are discouraged by committing funds in Nigeria due to structural challenges.

Dangote has announced that the refinery would have expanded its capacity to 700,000 barrels per day in its second year of activity, positioning Nigeria as a hub of Africa refining.

According to him, the company also aims to become the largest polypropylene exporter of the continent and the main worldwide manufacturer of fertilizers, the initiatives he said that they would increase the earnings of the changes, created jobs and stimulate other sectors of the economy.

“We are fully committed to supporting the government in adding value, creating jobs and building a stronger economy,” he added.

By clarifying the speculations on the possible entry into retail, Dangote said that refinery has no intention of acquiring filling stations. He revealed that the offers for the purchase of these stores in the past have been rejected.

Instead, he claimed that the refinery remains open to partnerships and collaborations with the parties interested in the downstream sector, insisting on the fact that the collective effort would strengthen the sector.

At the distribution, Dangote has shown methane trucks already loading products from the refinery, observing that the company would distribute 4,000 trucks at national level to ensure a safer and cheaper delivery of oil products.

“With the introduction of methane trucks, refinery can provide products to consumers everywhere in Nigeria, mitigating all the associated risks,” he said.

He assured that drivers and activities would be protected by security agencies, rejecting fears of possible attacks.

Dangote also expressed appreciation for the Federal Government, the refinery partners, the workers and the Nigerian public for their support.

The Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPman) has particularly praised for the mobilization of members to participate in the free distribution scheme powered by CNG trucks.

“Nigeria has now become the refined center of Africa,” said Dangote. “These initiatives will generate substantial in foreign currency, will create employment and guide sustainable growth”.
