Daybreak publisher Wins Silk Road Global News Award

The publisher and the editor -in -chief of the newspaper Nigeria, dr. Austin Maho, winner of 2025 Silk Road Global News Award emerged. (Srgna).

The award was announced at the 2025 Media Corporation Forum on Belt and Road. The event of the prize took place from 18 to 20 September, in the Chinese province of Kunming, Yunnan.

According to a declaration of The Belt and Road News Network (BRNN), secretariat, the selection followed a rigorous two-round evaluation process from 2024-2025, of 5000 items in total. Each category of the award is made up of a large winner of four selected (nominated) voices and ten long list items (finalists). The result he observed “reflects the exceptional quality and impact of his work” in promoting Belt and Road Initiative. Dr. Maho emerged winner in the long list category.

The Silk Road Global News Awards (Srgna) launched by The Belt and Road News Network (BRNN), is organized by the Daily of China del Popolo, which is also the president of the Brnn Council. It is the only international prize pursuant to the Belt and Road multilateral cooperation framework.

The 2025 award marks the second of the series. In the first srgna, during the entrance phase 4,485 voices were collected from 80 countries and regions and 19 finalists won the prizes. The award ceremony was held on October 19, 2023 in Beijing.

2025 Srgna saw the items of over 5,000 items.

The prizes, it is a professional, authoritative and global news showcase, which encourages media organizations and individuals in the countries along the belt and the way to learn from each other and the power of pool together. Recognizing the best news and works, the prizes highlight the stories of the belt and road and amplify the voice of countries and peoples along the way, in order to promote the high quality joint construction of the belt and road.

To date, adhesion to BRNN includes 274 media organizations from 109 countries. BRNN is dedicated to the promotion of mutual cooperation and exchanges between its members in various forms.

Speaking to the prize, dr. Austin Maho thanked the organizers for recognizing his works that contributed to contributing to the promotion of the Bri Spirit, China Africa and China Nigeria report. He said that the prize would have further pushed him to do more in promoting Bri Spirit China Africa and China Nigeria reports. He dedicated the Chinese ambassador award to Nigeria Dunhai Yu and the correspondent of the Daily People’s Daily in Nigeria.
