The young activists of the Niger delta urged the federal government to keep an eye on the activities of the presidential amnesty program (Pap).
The activists who declared this Thursday said that the call became necessary in view of the sensitive nature of the agency’s activities and the recent comments of the President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio on the need to increase dad.
Operating under the banner of the Niger delta, young people concerned for change, the group urged the coordinator of the agency, Dennis Otuaro, to use the funds intended for the rehabilitation and enhancement of the former agents.
Speaking during a protest in Abuja, Thursday, the group’s spokesman, his partner Lion Ogorry, also urged the commission for economic and financial crimes (EFCC) to keep under control all financial relations, the approvals of contracts and training initiatives pursuant to Otuaro’s leadership to ensure that the agency did not decorate from its mandate.
The group also appealed to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to intervene urgently, adding that the integrity of the program and the stability of the Niger delta depend strongly on Pap operations.
“We, the Niger delta interested in young people for change, are asking the Fcc to act quickly and without fear or favor. We ask for a global investigation on all financial transactions, the contractual prizes and projects approved by Mr. Otuaro since he assumed the assignment.
“Let every Naira be accounted for. We ask for responsibility. We ask for justice. And we ask for it now,” said the group.
