Dican honored Jonathan, Marwa, Onyema, another 16 years
Abuja (Core Reporters) to Congengence of Nigeria’s Diplomatic Community, Security Stakeholders, Policy Experts, and Scholars is set to take place in Abuja on Wednesday, July 23, 2025, as the diplomatic correspondnts association of Nigeria (Dican) Hosts the First-Ever Diplomatic/Security International Conference, Focusing on the Intersection of Diplomacy, National Security, and Nigeria’s 4D Foreign Policy Strategy Democracy, Development, Demography and Diaspora led by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar.
This revolutionary gathering, the themed “Nigeria foreign policy strategy between global security challenges, strategic and age incorrect perceptions: the role of diplomacy, intelligence and media in modeling national and global stability”. It is a timely response to the growing need for an informed intersectoral collaboration in safeguarding the sovereignty of Nigeria and global interests. He will bring together expert diplomats, representatives of foreign missions, security leaders, media professionals, researchers and actors of civil society to dissect the key issues that moderate the international commitment and internal stability of the nation.
Dican’s president, Idehai Federick, described the conference as a bold intellectual platform aimed at filling the gap between security policy, diplomatic action and media responsibility. According to him, “Nigeria is undergoing a profound recalibration of its foreign policy doctrine as part of the 4D framework. We believe that the media play a crucial role in amplifying these strategies, while experts and diplomats must align safety and diplomacy with global shifts in real time. This conference offers that synergy.”
In recognition of exceptional contributions to diplomacy, the construction of peace, national cohesion and reforms of the security sector, Dican will present the prestigious Dican prize of excellence to 20 distinct personalities and institutions that have shown an unrivaled commitment for the progress of Nigeria and international stature.
Among those to be honored there are:
Former President Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, for his lasting efforts in peace diplomacy and conflict resolution throughout Africa;
Buba Marwa-retired brigadier general, president of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), for its anti-partner reforms;
Allen Onyema, president of Air Peace, for promoting regional connectivity, evacuation of crises and support for national diplomacy through the logistics of aviation;
The Embassy of the Arab Republic of Egypt in Nigeria, for its constant diplomatic commitment and support for bilateral cooperation.
Others on the honor shot include the best security agents, humanitarian actors and institutions whose work has strengthened the international presence of Nigeria and internal security architecture.
The conference, the first of its kind in Nigeria, will present key addresses, panel discussions and thought leadership sessions, with important speakers including:
