An Ohanaze Ndigbo faction led by Mazi Okechukwu Committee has asked the 2023 presidential candidate from the Labor Party (LP), Peter Obi, to leave the 2027 presidential election plan and vice versa supports the second term offer of Bola Tinubu.
The ISGUZORO, who made a call in a statement on Thursday, said that the current political structure in the country so that southeast of its own, could not produce the president, and warn that every Obi effort to nominate itself in 2027, would endanger the opportunities of the region in the future and could worsen the marginalization of the region.
ISGUZORO emphasized that the government led by Tinubu had shown a commitment for the development of IGBO with several appointments of IGBO’s sons and daughters to important positions and three federal allocations to the region.
“The current political dynamics, combined with Ambition of Atiku Abubakar, means that Obi runs again will only share the opposition and give an easy victory,”
Said ISIGUZORO.
He also advised the former Governor of the State Anambra to prioritize the interests of IGBO over his personal ambitions and negotiate for the needs of the region instead of fighting.
Although he acknowledged Obi’s constitutional rights to run for president, ISGUZORO warned that other presidential offers could backfire and lead to betrayal and setbacks for southeast, similar to 2019 and 2023.
