In a remarkable sample of resilience, discipline and sporting brilliance, the deputy superintendent of the Police (DSP) Akogun Oluwatoyin O. of the State Police Command of Edo has added another pen to its decorated cap when closing the silver medal in the tournament of the open presidency of the arbate Zen Archray, held from June 18 to June 18 to June 20, 2025.
The famous officer, which is no stranger to the results of the podium, was proud once again to stay up among the best international archers. This last milestone adds to its long list of achievements in the world of sport, including being an elite and professional boxer, the contingent of the Commonwealth Glasgow 2014 Games, the gold medalist of the World Police Games, the World Police Games ambassador, the Women’s Boxing Medalist of Africa and a consistent national medalist of Boxing Gold.
DSP Oluwatoyin, who also serves as ambassador to the Sports Akogaa Foundation brand, expressed his sincere appreciation during the presentation of medals at the closing ceremony. He recognized the Zen Archery Nigeria and the Sports Commission of the State of Lagos to organize and present an International Tournament of Archerty Standard Standard, which allows athletes from other countries and in Nigeria show their talent.
He also extended a deep gratitude to the Police Force of Nigeria, which provided the Environment and Enabling Support System Train in one of the best Nigeria Arc fire institutions: the Archerty Academy of Akogaa, Benin City, Edo state.
The Academy, founded by Chief Akogun A. Abimbola, the first Nigerian arch judge to officiate in an international tournament, continues as a lighthouse of excellence in Nigerian sports.
It will be remembered that DSP Akogun Oluwatoyin O. He made history by ensuring the gold medal in the National Championship of Archerty Open held in the state of Ogun in 2021, becoming the first gold medalist with an arc of Edo State and the entire South-South region of Nigeria. She solidified her legacy by winning gold and multiple medals in the National Championship of Archerty Edo 2023, an event organized by the Akogaa Arc Academy, with strong support from the Sports Commission of the State of Edo and the Nigeria Police Force, recognized as the Pilar of Sports Development in Nigeria.
That historical championship also marked the official introduction of Zen Archery Nigeria and earned him the prestigious National Arc Prize, honoring his exceptional performance and his important contributions to archery progress in Nigeria.
With this silver medal, DSP Oluwatoyin has become the first International Arch of Edo’s arc medalist and the entire South-South region of Nigeria, following the proud steps of the legacy of Akogaa Archerty Academy, which previously produced the first gold medalist with arc in the same region.
