Cloud-based mobile and desktop messaging app Telegram has reacted to the arrest of its Chief Executive, Pavel Durov, in France.
The 39-year-old billionaire was arrested by police at an airport in northern France on Saturday.
He was arrested after his private jet landed at Le Bourget Airport for violations related to the popular messaging app.
According to reports, Mr. Durov is under investigation for refusing to stop his continued use of Telegram as a criminal act or moderate the app.

Telegram said in a statement on its X platform and official news channel on Sunday afternoon that the CEO had “nothing to hide.”
The statement read: “It is absurd to claim that a platform or its owners are responsible for the misuse of that platform.
“Telegram complies with EU law, including the Digital Services Act — its moderation is in line with industry standards and is constantly improving.
