The young Nigerian goalkeeper, Ebenezer Harcourt, has expressed sincere gratitude to the superior players and the technical body of the Super Eagles after making their first senior appearance.
The 15-year-old appeared in Nigeria’s 2-0 victory over the Congo in the African Nations Championship (Chan) on Tuesday.
Harcourt praised the support he received from the most experienced goalkeepers in the team.
“It’s the first time I am with high -level players like the NPFL stars. They hugged me like yours, they guided me well, they taught me and gave me confidence,” he said.
He described the guide of players and senior coaches as crucial for their development, pointing out how much their confidence in the great scenario has increased.
Reflecting on its progress, Harcourt emphasized the value of opportunity and preparation.
“I am grateful for the opportunity. I made use of my possibilities, and this platform is one of the greatest stages of my football career,” he added.
The teenager also acknowledged that he is still learning and said that hard work and support will be key to their growth.
“With the goalkeeper’s coach guide, I think I’ll be great,” he said.
Harcourt’s debut also established a new milestone, exceeding Femi Opabunmi record established in 2002 as the youngest player he has presented for the Super Eagles.
His performance and maturity in the field at such a young age underlines his potential to become a cornerstone for Nigerian football in the coming years.
