The Ebonyi State University of ICT, Science and Technology, Oferekpe, has announced the introduction of 20 new academic programs for the academic session of 2025/2026.
Deputy Chancellor of the Institution, Engr. Prof. Ernest Iutma Egba revealed this development after receiving the approval from the National University Commission (NUC). The letter of approval was signed by the director of academic planning, Abubakar M. Girei.
Prof. EGBA expressed joy for the milestone, underlining that the University had made adequate preparations in human resources and materials to support the new programs. The Governor of the State of Ebonyi, Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, also praised for his unwavering support.
We appreciate the fact that the governor includes the importance of adequate quality staff, teaching and learning structures and infrastructure. His financial and moral support has been crucial. Our university already boasts a good number of highly qualified staff trained both locally and abroad and their experience will benefit our students, “said Prof. EGBA.
The approved courses include:
ICT & Engineering: B.SC. Computer science, B.Sc. Data Sciences, B.Sc. Software Engineering, B.SC. Cyber Security, B.Sc. Information and communication technology, B.Sc. Information systems, B.Sc. Information technology, b.eng. Computer engineering, B.eng. Civil Engineering and B.eng. Electric and electronic engineering.
Sciences & Health: B.Sc. Human and dietary nutrition, Him Health Information Management.
Social sciences and management: B.Sc. Accounting, B.Sc. Economy, B.Sc. Entrepreneurship, B.Sc. Mass communication.
Building environment: B.Sc. Architecture, B.Sc. Building, B.Sc. Polls and geoinformatics, B.Sc. Survey of quantity.
In a declaration, the chancellor of acting, Dr. Chukwu Eze-Obia, urged the future candidates with a sign of interruption of 150 and beyond to apply by demanding university their first choice on the Jamb Caps portal. More details are available on www.uicto.edu.ng.
Prof. EGBA underlined the mission of the institution to expand access to higher education, in particular in tics, science and technology.
We aim to provide high quality education that provides students with the skills to compete in today’s digital world. Our goal is to produce graduates capable of dealing with the technological and scientific needs of the company, “he said.
On infrastructure, the deputy chancellor confirmed that the state government of Ebonyi had made substantial investments in the development of the campus. Key projects such as the buildings of the Faculty, the Senate building, the University Library, the Student Hostels and Personnel Quarters are completed or in advanced phases.
Founded on January 23, 2025, the Ebonyi State University of ICT, Science and Technology is the 66th State University of Nigeria and the 278th institution in the national university system. His vision is to become a main learning and research center based on Tic, producing qualified graduates for a global impact.
