Edo Govt confirmed the dengue plague, 86 cases

The state government of Edo on Saturday confirmed the outbreak of dengue fever in the state.

Commissioner of State for Health, Dr. Cyril Oshiomhole, confirmed the development of media direction in the city of Benin, the capital of the state.

He said the state had recorded 86 cases from the beginning of the disease.

“We have confirmed 86 cases of dengue fever in several regional government areas. While the number of deaths is still in verification, this trend is worrying and calling for collective actions that determine,” said the Commissioner.

He also revealed that the state of Edo had recorded 137 cases of Lassa fever and 24 deaths.

“The Ministry of Health has activated the Emergency Operation Center and launched a dengue response plan throughout the state. This includes supervision, case management, vector control, risk communication, and environmental sanitation in all affected LGA.

“The government cannot do it yourself. Your home, your environment, and your workplace is the frontline battlefield in this fight.

“To our health workers, remain vigilant, report cases suspected, and educate patients,” he added.

Oshiomhole also announced the appointment of Dr. Ojeifo Stephenson, Director of Public Health to lead the state response to the plague.
