Edo: Iyamu aims for the seat of the House of Representatives

‎A former Edo State Commissioner for Education, Hon. Paddy Emmanuel Iyamu, traced his involvement in the All Progressives Congress (APC) to 2016, stressing that he has consistently invested time, resources and energy to ensure electoral victories for the party.

‎He highlighted his role in the subsequent elections, especially his support for Senator Monday Okpebholo, saying he worked tirelessly across Oredo to mobilize voters and ensure the party’s victory.

‎Iyamu stated this at the weekend, formally declaring his intention to contest the Oredo Federal House of Representatives seat at the APC Secretariat in Oredo Local Government Area.

‎The statement attracted a large turnout of party faithful and interested parties, who gathered to show solidarity.

Addressing the gathering which included party leaders, supporters and members of the City Boy Movement, Iyamu rejected claims that he was not a grassroots politician, insisting that his contributions to the party’s growth over the years speak for themselves.

‎“I have been a part of this party since 2016, supporting it with everything I have. Those who know Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu can attest to my commitment to building the party and supporting our candidates.

“And in 2019, I initiated women empowerment in Oredo. In Ward 10, we introduced monthly programs and today the results are visible. I am bold to say that I have the numbers and I will win by a landslide,” she said.

‎Continuing, the aspiring Rep described allegations that he was not accepted at the constituency level as false and politically motivated, arguing that his political path was defined by loyalty and service.

‎According to him, “It is painful when people try to paint me as an outsider. The same people know the role I played. My only ‘crime’ is my decision to contest.”

‎He noted that his relationship with the state leadership of the party remains cordial.

‎In his remarks, the Oredo LGA APC Chairman, Dr Osamudiamen Osarenkhoe, called for unity among party members as the election season approaches.

‎Osarenkhoe described Iyamu as a loyal party man who respects leadership and due process, urging members to avoid internal conflicts.
