In an effort to stem a wave of violence related to cult, the state government of Edo has issued a stern warning to the Neo Black movement, known as Black Ax, for alleged group involvement in recent murder throughout the state.
The government’s attitude follows public protests by group members towards the demolition of a building that is said to have been used for violence attacks in the city of Benin and surrounding areas.
Officials said the opposition to demolition effectively confirmed the group relations with criminal activities, describing them to the investigation and the possibility of prosecution based on the Anti-Cultus State Law.
According to a statement released Monday, the destroyed structure has functioned as a center to regulate acts of violence, and its transfer is a valid response based on intelligence reports.

“Edo will never be a paradise for worshipers,” the statement said. “The government remains firm in cleaning the state of the criminal network.”
The government also challenges group claims to renovate six schools under the government of the Governor of Monday Okpebholo, demanding verified documentation or risk of dealing with legal actions for defamation and invalid interference with state infrastructure.
To strengthen security, the government announced plans to build a division police station in the location that was cleaned and warned that more property demolition related to cult was near.
