EFCC court orders, other people to submit a defense in Aisha Achimugu’s lawsuit

Judge Inyang Ekwo from the Federal High Court, Abuja, on Friday, ordered the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) and five other security agencies to submit their defense in a lawsuit filed by an entrepreneur, Aisha Achimugu, to stop the planned arrest due to suspected fraud.

Other security bodies listed in the Basic Rights Enforcement Lawsuit are the Nigerian Police Force (NPF), Independent Corruption Practices and other related Violation Commissions (ICPC), State Security Services (SSS), Nigerian Civil and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) and Nigerian Immigration Services (NIS).

The judge gave an order after a complaint by Achimugu’s lawyer, Kaninde Ogunwumijun (SAN), that there were no respondents in court to show the reasons why the Petitioner’s prayer should not be given even though it was served with the previous court orders.

Achimugu has a marked ex-party movement: FHC/ABJ/CS/626/2025 submitted on April 3 looking for a temporary command that holds the respondent to threaten or harass it with the arrest, detention and property invasion.

He is also looking for a temporary command that holds the respondent to capture, harass, hold or violate his rights to live, freedom of movement and freedom as guaranteed by Chapter 4 Constitution while waiting for hearing and determination of motion that originates.

EFCC on March 29 stated that Achimugu wanted alleged money laundering and high profile investment fraud.
