Eid-el-Fitr: Filani calls for unity, responsible leadership, national renewal

A presidential aspirant of the Young Progressives Party (YPP), Olajide Filani, has congratulated Muslim faithful across the country on the successful completion of Ramadan and celebration of Eid-el-Fitr, urging Nigerians to embrace unity, compassion and a renewed commitment to nation-building.

In a statement released on Wednesday, March 19, 2026, Filani described the Eid celebration as a reminder of sacrifice, discipline, love and devotion to God, stressing that the spiritual lessons of Ramadan should translate into the daily conduct of citizens and leaders.

He called on Nigerians to uphold the values ​​of tolerance, peace and mutual respect, stressing that the country’s current socioeconomic and security challenges require collective effort, sincere leadership and sustained prayers.

“During this celebration of Eid-el-Fitr, I congratulate our Muslim brothers and sisters for successfully completing Ramadan, a period that teaches patience, sacrifice and deep devotion to God.

These virtues are critical to our nation right now,” he said.

Filani stressed that Nigeria’s progress depends on the willingness of leaders and citizens to work together towards a shared vision of peace, justice and inclusiveness.

According to him, the country needs responsible and people-oriented leadership to address current challenges.

He urged political leaders, religious bodies and citizens to use the festive period to reflect on the importance of national unity and harmonious coexistence, while promoting fairness and equity across all regions and communities.

“My hope in this season is that peace will be restored throughout Nigeria, that our people will experience genuine joy, and that we can build a country where every citizen feels safe, valued and respected,” he added.

The YPP presidential aspirant further encouraged Nigerians not to lose hope in the face of hardship, calling for sustained prayers and support for initiatives to improve security, boost the economy and promote national stability.

He also appealed to citizens to make informed choices in future elections, underlining that leadership remains key to addressing the country’s challenges.

“As a nation, we must remain confident and resolute. By making the right choices, we can usher in a new era of peace, prosperity and abundance,” Filani said, adding that success often comes through perseverance despite setbacks.
