EID-UL-MAWLID: FG declares on Friday 5 September 2025, public holiday
Abuja (basic reporter) The Federal Government declared on Friday 5 September 2025, as a public holiday to commemorate the celebration of EID-UL-MAWLID, the birth of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace is on him).
The Minister of the Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, who made the declaration on behalf of the Federal Government has extended warm congratulations to UMAH Muslims in Nigeria and all over the world on this occasion
Dr. Tunji-Ojo has unjected the faithful Muslims to reflect on the virtues of peace, love, humility, tolerance and compassion as exemplified by the holy prophet Muhammad (Pubo), underlining that these values remain essential in the construction of a united, prosperous and progressive nation.
He also invited the Nigerians, regardless of their religious beliefs, to use the opportunity to pray for the peace, security and stability of the country, while supporting the efforts of the federal government to promote national harmony and sustainable development.
“The celebration of EID-UL-MAWLID still offers us another opportunity to strengthen the bonds of brotherhood, promote peaceful coexistence and absorb the prophet’s teachings on mutual respect and altruistic service to humanity,” said the minister.
Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo has also urged citizens to remain respectful of the law, the safety and support of government policies aimed at guaranteeing the collective well-being of all Nigerians.
In a declaration signed by the permanent secretary, Dr. Magdalene Ajani, the minister, wants to all Muslims a joyful and peaceful celebration of Eid-Ul-Mawlid.
