Ekiti Masquerade Attack: Allow the police to do his job, says Muric – Thage

The concern for Muslim rights (Muric) said that traditionalists are trying to frustrate police efforts to bring to book the brain behind the mask attack on Muslim women in Oke Agbe.

The Islamic organization for human rights said that the culprits must be arrested before they can start diplomatic moves. The group insisted on the fact that the meetings called up by traditionalists at the moment are designed to extend the offense.

This was contained in a declaration issued on Sunday 22 June 2025 by the executive director of Muric, Professor Ishaq Akinintola.

The complete declaration reads:

*”The traditionalists are trying to frustrate the police efforts to bring to book the brain behind the mask attack on the Muslim women of Oke Agbe. It will be remembered that some masked have invaded the mosque and the house of the Imam Muhammed Hussain Jegede Taqweem to Oke Agbe, Akoko, Thursday ondo, 12 June, 2025

“Although the victims were invited on Wednesday to the State Police Command to affirm their part of the story, until now it has not been arrested. This is partly due to the fact that they have been made by traditionalists in the city to organize meetings between the attackers and the victims.

“We frozen the delay in the arrest of the culprits. Suspicions must be arrested before they can start the diplomatic moves. The meetings summoned by traditionalists at this moment are designed to extend the crime. They want to mull the action of the police as if they were above the law. The impunity is pure.

“The King of Oke Agbe and His King-in-Council are complicit by virtue of the position they took ab initio. This is very clear from the toxic judgement they gave when they asked the imam to bring nine goats, seven sheep and 200 pieces of Kolanuts as fine after mosque and house had been invaded and His Family Had Been Severely Beaten.

*“Muric asks for the immediate arrest of Ajayi Odunayo Smart (Aka Ijoba). He was the first to start whipping the son of the Imam before the other attackers began to beat them. Other suspicions include Balogun Adwale (Capo Olisa), AdoSun Leke (Aka C Leke).*

“The law must follow its debt. Neither the king nor the oba-in-couchil are facing the question of justice and we are sure that the attack will be repeated again unless a lesson is taught.

“Muslims have always been victims of masked attacks in Yorubaland. There is no recording of a single attack started by Muslims on people of another faith in Yorubaland. Muslims have always been the victims. These attacks have become frequent because the attacks have always gone free. We want to see a change this time. It is quite enough.

*”The masked and their sponsors are not above the law. This attack must not be treated lightly. We must therefore allow the law to follow its complete course so that we can have an official registration of the ugly accident. The arrest and pursuit of suspicions will act as a cleansing.*

“Here’s how to stop crime in society. People have the propensity to grow wings if the full anger of the law is not visited on them after committing a crime. That’s why both the king and his re-member advice must allow the police to do his job. They should stop interfering.”
