Elisha Sowunmi signs the first professional contract with West Ham United

Elisha Sowunmi has signed her first professional contract with the Premier League Club in English West Ham United.

The 17 -year -old striker, who has been with the club since he joined the U9, wrote a complete scholarship in 2023 and since then has appeared prominently for the U18 and U19 teams of the Hammers.

The club confirmed the adolescent’s contract in an official statement: “West Ham United is delighted to announce that the Elisha Sowunmi academy forward has signed its first professional contract with the club.”

In reaction to milestone, Sowunmi shared his emotion: “It feels good to have signed my first professional contract,” he smiled. β€œBeing a professional footballer is something I have thought about for so many years, so it will finally happen is a great feeling.

“I have reached the age groups with players with whom I have grown together, so seeing everyone to reach this point together is really special. We hope that we can continue to press and improve with the U21.”

Sowunmi played a key role in the triumph of the Premier League U18 of West Ham, ending the season as the top scorer of the team with 18 goals and five assists in all competitions.

Born in England, Sowunmi is a British citizen of Nigerian descent.
