Elton John reveals ‘severe eye infection’ left him with limited vision in one eye

Popular British singer, pianist and composer Sir Elton John has revealed that he suffered from a ‘severe eye infection’ which left him with ‘limited vision’ in one eye.

The veteran player revealed the information while providing an update on his health on social media, saying he had recently recovered from a “severe eye infection” that had affected his vision.

According to Elton John, his current health situation explains his lack of presence on social media and in the public eye over the past few months.

“Over the summer, I battled a severe eye infection that unfortunately left me with limited vision in one eye,” the musician said in a statement on Instagram. “I am recovering, but it is a very slow process and it will take time for vision to return to the affected eye.”

The 77-year-old also claimed to have “spent the summer quietly recovering at home” and that over the past few weeks, doctors, nurses and his family have been caring for him.

“[I] “I feel positive about the progress I have made in my healing and recovery so far,” he added. John, who was born Reginald Kenneth Dwight, did not elaborate on the condition or what caused it.
