England defeat Serbia in first group match

Jude Bellingham’s first-half goal was enough for England to beat Serbia 1-0 in their opening Euro 2024 Group C match on Sunday.

The victory took England to the top of the group that also includes Denmark and Slovenia.

Bellingham gave England the lead in the 13th after heading in Bukayo Saka’s cross.

It was a game in which the Three Lions did enough to earn all three points after outplaying possession by 53 per cent to Serbia’s 47, taking three shots on goal to one and also making five counterattacks.

In the other group match, Slovenia and Denmark tied 1-1.

England, with three points, leads the group, Denmark and Slovenia have one point each and are second and third respectively, while Serbia is last.
