Enyimba head Coach, Finidi George says the team will kick off the new League campaign with little pressure as defending champions.

The Aba Elephants will begin the new Nigeria Premier Football League campaign against Gombe United at the Gombe Stadium, on Sunday.

Speaking ahead of the game, Finidi explained his team’s objective.

“We are coming into the season as defending champions but we won’t allow that to put us under any pressure. We have already had discussions with the players and we have made them understand that one thing we must do is stick to our ideologies.

“This is a long season that will have the good moments and the difficult ones, but whatever the case, we must stick to our ideologies. That is what will give us an identity and give us a chance.

“I understand that the fans have high expectations, but at the same time I am confident that the players will deliver. We are all motivated and ready to go at it again.”

Enyimba are the favorites going into the game against Gombe United, and the former Super Eagles winger is confident of a good outcome.

“Gombe United have usually been a difficult opposition, especially when playing against them in Gombe.

“They have a good crowd of supporters behind them, and that makes them want to give everything. But we will also fancy our chances.

“We just want to maintain a positive approach because that is the same thing that helped us to win many away games last season.

” I am confident that with the right approach, we will be able to get a good result,” He concluded.
