Equatorial Guinea Officials were sentenced to eight years due to embezzlement after the Sex Record Scandal

A senior guinean official, who has been humiliated by the sex record scandal, has been sentenced to eight years in prison for embezzlement.

The Bioko Provincial Court found Baltasar Ebang Engonga guilty of diverting funds allocated for professional travel costs and using it for personal purposes.

“The provincial court sentenced eight years to Engonga and a fine worth $ 220,000,” Confirmation of Hilario Mitogo, Director of the Supreme Court Press, in a message to reporters.

Engonga, a married man and a former Head of the National Financial Investigation Agency, stood tried with five other senior officials accused of abusing hundreds of thousands of dollars in the cost of oil rich.

This case attracted international attention after Engonga’s sex tapes with other officials’ wives appeared online last November, some of them were filmed in their own offices at the Ministry of Finance. At that time, he was detained in detention waiting for the trial for embezzlement.

The scandal made him nicknamed “Bello” and inspired the waves of online parody, including comic songs, dances, and posts about spoof virility drugs dubbed “Balthazariem.”
