The delay in the arrival of Kelechi Iheanacho to the Super Eagles camp for the AFCON 2025 qualifiers against Benin Republic and Rwanda on the 7th and 10th respectively, OwnGoalNigeria.com can exclusively reveal.

Iheanacho missed the team’s first full training session under interim coach Austine Eguavoen this evening, which was attended by up to 20 players to hone strategies for the weekend’s first game.

Apart from Iheanacho, two others, Victor Osimhen and goalkeeper Maduka Okoye, are yet to arrive at the team camp, and we exclusively gather the reason behind the absence of the striker who recently joined LaLiga side Sevilla.

Their first flight will be from Seville to Barcelona before connecting to Turkey because there is no direct flight from Seville to Istanbul from where they are expected to fly to Nigeria for the match.

Sources say there is a strong chance he will arrive alongside Victor Osimhen, who recently joined Turkish league giants Galatasaray on a one-year loan deal from Napoli yesterday.

Both are expected to travel on the same flight from Istanbul to Nigeria for the match. They are expected to arrive in Lagos early tomorrow before taking a connecting flight to Uyo, the venue for the match.
