Expert: Bad grades for Flying Eagles stars Daga and Harcourt

Some poor individual performances caused the Flying Eagles to suffer a tough 4-0 defeat at the hands of Argentina, according to one expert.

Dutch coach Erik Stekelenburg criticized the performances of midfielder Daniel Daga and goalkeeper Ebenezer Harcourt when the Flying Eagles were eliminated from the 2025 U-20 World Cup.

“The Flying Eagles were bad for the first 25 minutes,” said Stekelenburg, who watched the game from his base in Malaga, Spain.

“The goalkeeper (Harcourt) was very weak and caused a lot of uncertainty.

“I saw Daga again, he continues to make the same mistakes he made two years ago (at the Under 20 World Cup in Argentina 2023).”

He continued: “The second half of the first half was much better, the team deserved to at least cut a goal or even tie, but their finishing was weak.

“And the referee refused to give them a penalty, which was a bad decision.

“Then, when seven minutes after the break they conceded the goal again, the game, of course, was over.”
