A first level court in London rejected the attempts of the Nigerian constitutional lawyer, Mike Ozekhome, and such a Shani to claim the property of a contested property linked to the deceased former minister of the territory of the federal capital, General Jeremiah Userni.
The property in dispute, located at 79 Randall Avenue, Neasden, north of London, became subject to litigation after Ozekhome applied to record it in his name, claiming that he was equipped with Useni to appreciate legal services.
However, before the process could be finalized, Shani presented an objection to the Register of HM land on September 26, 2022, insisting on the fact that it was the legitimate owner and never authorized the transfer.
The case, marked Ref 2023/0155, was subsequently addressed to the court for judgment.
Ozekhome claimed that “such Shani” was a fictitious identity invented to fraudulently tear the control of the property.
He claimed that the transfer was a legitimate gift of users and not a financial transaction.
Tirging through video links before his death, Useni said he had purchased the property in 1993 for £ 110,000 with the name “Philips Bincan”, stressing that he was intended as a family home.
He rejected any statement that connected Shani to the property, adding that he met someone only with that name much later in life.
Driving the judgment on 11 September 2025, judge Ewan Paton eliminated the case of Shani, describing his request to purchase the property at the age of 20 as “non -plausible and not convincing”.
He observed that the documents provided contradicted his statements, while the tests of users were consistent and credible.
The court also rejected Ozekhome’s statement, claiming that none of the parties had shown the property. Instead, he established that the real owner was General Useni, who had recorded the property with a false name.
“The final result of this case, therefore, is that both sides have failed,” said judge Paton.
“Nor” Such Shani “was what they claimed to be, and neither of the two was the person who bought this property in 1993. The real owner, through a false name, was General Jeremiah Userni.”
The Court has established that the ownership of the property now passes to those who have a valid concession of supervised freedom or administration of the English activities of USENIs.
At the expense, the judge believed that there would be no order, stating that Shani’s statement was non -existent and in the end the case of Ozekhome eventually was not successful.
