The High Federal Court of Lagos has granted a provisional order that prevents the police inspector general and other high officers from arresting or detained a popular personality on the air and the comedian, Chintadu Emmanuel Ani, popularly known as Nedu Wazobia, in relation to a contractual dispute with a business partner.

The order, issued by the Dipeolu judge, followed an ex -party application presented by Nedu and five others, including members of his team and a medium company, in search of the protection of their fundamental human rights.

The sentence prevents the police from further convening or holding candidates for a dispute with the Metropolitan School of Business and Management and its main ones, Mr. and Mrs. Victor and Tolulope Ariyibi-Oke.

Also as interviewed in the cause are CSP Ngozi Braide, ASP Stephen Onhane and the inspector Echeng Julius.

In his sentence, the judge Dipeolu has issued a provisional injunction that prevents the police and their agents from taking further measures against applicants, pending the hearing of the substantial motion for the application of their fundamental rights.

The judge, however, refused a separate prayer that tries to force the police to maintain the status quo on all the transaction issues.

Through their advice, JW Dong, the candidates claimed that the police were used as an intimidation tool by their commercial partners in a civil question.

They informed the court that the dispute had previously been investigated for almost nine months from the former of the AIG office in Alagbon throughout 2024.

According to the documents of the Court, the investigations concluded that Nedu and his team did not turn to a criminal liability and the police legal department issued a formal legal opinion in which it is stated that the case was purely contractual.

Despite this discovery, the candidates said that the interviewees secretly presented a second petition to the same police office, this time to a team led by CSP Ngozi Braide.

They said that Braide and his team ignored the recommendations of the previous legal advice and proceeded to put the applicants again under caution, continuing to intimidate them.

The candidates also said that one of the interviewees attacked their former lawyer during the investigation, a statement that underlines the controversial nature of the feud.

The legal battle derives from a partnership started at the beginning of 2024 for an educational charity initiative to increase school expenses for non -privileged students.

It was said that the project culminated in a high -profile fundraising gala held in March 2024, that the interviewees had agreed to sponsor with an estimated cost of over 83 million.

The event generated cash donations and successfully engaged, but the partnership was incredit when the interviewees would have requested an unjustified refund of ₦ 60 million.

Following the breakdown of the partnership, the interviewees presented a petition to the police, leading to what the candidates described as a harassment campaign.

They said that some members of their team were illegally detained in July 2025 and that their international passports were seized by the police.

The candidates insisted that the dispute was strictly contractual and should be resolved in a civil court, not through a criminal investigation.

In their motion, the candidates ask the Court to declare illegal, unconstitutional and an abuse of power.

They are also looking for an order for the immediate return of seized passports and a permanent injunction that prevents the police from any further harassment on the contractual question.

In addition, Nedu and his co -fingers ask for 2 billion damage, jointly and severely, by the interviewees for the alleged violation of their fundamental rights. [Tribune]
