FG declares Wednesday 1 October public holiday

Abuja (basic reporter) The federal government declared on Wednesday 1 October 2025 as a public holiday to commemorate the 65th anniversary of Nigeria.

The honorable Minister of the Interior, Hon (Dr) Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, who made the declaration on behalf of the federal government, congratulated all the Nigerians both at home and in the diaspora on this historic occasion.

Dr. Tunji-Ojo has unjected citizens to continue supporting the patriotic spirit, unity and resilience that supported the nation from independence in 1960.

He urged the Nigerians to further maintain the trust in the renewed agenda of the hope of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, (GCFR), who is anchored to national rebirth, economic transformation and collective prosperity.

The minister expressed the trust that, with the cooperation of all the Nigerians, the country will continue to become stronger in peace, progress and development.

In a declaration signed by the permanent secretary of the ministry, Dr. Magdalene Ajani, the minister wanted to Nigerians a happy and memorable celebration of the day of the independence of 2025.
