FG reveals 2025 independence theme while Nigeria performs 65 …

The Federal Government officially announced the theme for the 65th anniversary of the independence of the country: “Nigeria @ 65: all hands on the bridge for a larger nation”.

Presented on Tuesday, the theme underlines the urgent need for unity, collaboration and patriotism in all sectors – Publica, Primation, Civil Society and among citizens – build a more prosperous, peaceful and progressive Nigeria.

According to a declaration issued by the Office of the Secretary of the Federation Government (OSGF), the theme reflects the journey of the Nation from independence on October 1, 1960 and asks for a renewed commitment for national development.

“Since it reached independence, the nation has successfully sailed difficulty and has achieved significant progress in different economic sectors,” reads the declaration.

“This requires collective efforts to consolidate these earnings and pursue higher objectives, with the aim of forging a powerful nation for all citizens”.

The ministries, departments and government agencies have been aimed at aligning their programs and activities with the official issue, ensuring that the message of unity and national development resonates throughout the country in line with the renewed agenda of hope.

As part of the celebrations, several events have been aligned, including a Juma’at prayer on Friday 26 September at 13:00, followed by an inter-denominational church service on Sunday 28 September at 10:00.

A world press conference will also be held on Monday 29 September at 10:00, all before the celebration of the day of independence on October 1st.

While Nigeria marks 65 years of independence, the theme serves as a battle request for each Nigerian to contribute significantly to the construction of the nation.
