The President of the Imo State Basketball Association, Hon. Johnbosco Ekezie Okeahialam, has congratulated the President of the Nigeria Basketball Federation, Musa Kida, and basketball stakeholders across the country following the recent FIBA verdict on the Kida administration.
Reacting to this development, Okeahialam, who closely followed the electoral process that brought Kida into office four years ago, called on stakeholders to refrain from actions that would destabilize the game. He lamented that, over time, some individuals have become more concerned with crises within the system rather than contributing significantly to the growth of basketball in Nigeria.
The Imo basketball boss, who recently returned from a trip abroad, reiterated his commitment to revitalize the sport in Imo State and the entire South Eastern region. He also commended the support of the South East representative on the NBBF board of directors, Ugo Udezue, for his support of the board, stressing that such unity remains vital for sustained progress.
Okeahialam stressed that a united basketball family would attract corporate organizations and sponsors, thereby accelerating the development of the sport nationwide.
He also pledged to prioritize the development of grassroots basketball in Imo State, with a focus on school programs as a basis for nurturing young talents during his tenure.
