Floods: Five Dead People, 3 Missing in the Ebonyi Community

At least five people have been confirmed dead, and three others said they were missing in the floods that occurred in the Enohia ITIM community in Afikpo the regional government in the state of Ebonyi.

Executive Secretary of the Ebonyi State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), Mr. Clement Ovuoba, revealed this in a statement on Wednesday in Abakaliki.

The Head of SEMA visited the affected areas on Tuesday, accompanied by other stakeholders.

Floods, which occurred on August 1, followed heavy rain and claimed eight lives, while more than 800 farmers were destroyed by their agricultural land.

Ovuoba described the incident as a disaster and sympathized with a grieving family.

“According to eyewitnesses, floods swept residents, including children, and soaking the vast banana plantation plantations.

“Although there was an attempt by canoe users to save those affected, five bodies were found and buried, while three people, including two children, were lost,” he said.
