Floods hit Kaduna State, thousands evacuated (Photo)

Devastating floods have hit Kafanchan and surrounding villages in Jema’a Local Government Area (LGA), Kaduna State, displacing more than 1,000 residents and claiming the lives of two children.

The floods that hit parts of Kafanchan, Jagindi, Atuku, Aso and Bade districts have also destroyed farmlands, washing away crops worth millions of naira.

According to Mrs. Christy Usman, Deputy Chairperson of Jema’a LGA, “This flood has hit the economy of Jema’a LGA hard, but we are grateful that Governor Uba Sani has responded by sending a committee led by the Chief of Staff, Malam Sani Liman Kila, to assess the damage.”

The Kaduna State Flood Impact Assessment Committee visited affected communities in southern Kaduna on Monday, where they witnessed the extent of the damage. The committee’s visit was led by Malam Sani Liman Kila, Chief of Staff to Governor Uba Sani.

The floods have left thousands of people homeless or without livelihoods, and many more have been affected by the destruction of agricultural land and crops. The true extent of the damage is still being assessed, but it is clear that the floods have had a devastating impact on communities.

Photos of the affected areas show the extent of the damage, with homes and buildings submerged in water and farmland destroyed.

The Kaduna State Government has pledged to provide support to those affected by the floods, but for now, the people of Jema’a LGA are forced to pick themselves up and try to rebuild their lives.
