Flying Eagles reaches round 16 after the draw of Colombia

The Flying Eagles has reached the 16th round of the FIFA U-20 World Cup after a 1-1 draw against Colombia on Monday morning (Nigeria time) at Chile.

Nigerian children have begun their campaign with disappointing defeat from Norway before rising back to defeat Saudi Arabia in their Secong Group F match.

In the last group match with Colombia, it was the final penalty converted by Daniel Bamayi who saw Flying Eagles coming from the goal down to get points against South America.

Colombia had led in the 52nd minute through Keser Gonzalez from the counterattack before the 86th minute when Bameyi scored a penalty after a Colombian player handled the ball in the box.

The point obtained that brought Nigeria to four points was enough to see the team until the last 16 competition.

The result means Flying Eagles ranks third in four points behind Colombia and Norway, and finished as one of the third best teams.

The Flying Eagles will now face six times the winner of the U-20 World Cup FIFA Argentina in the round of 16 on October 8.

Argentina finished above Group D at nine points, scored eight goals and conceded only two.
