For the former candidate for the Kogi Dino Melaye Governorate, he resigns from PDP


A former member of the Senate and the candidate for the Governor of the Kogi of 2023, Dino Melaye, formally resigned by the Democratic Party of people (PDP).

He mentioned the inability of the party to free Nigeria from what he described as “prevailing political bodies”.

In a letter of resignation dated 4 July 2025, addressed to the president of the Ward 1 PDP 1 in Aiyetoro Gbade, an area of the local government of Ijumu in the state of Kogi, Melaye has announced its immediate retreat from the party and all its activities.

“This decision has become imperative due to the lack of power and capacity on the part of the party to deliver the Nigerian people daiworm’s prevailing political people who have eaten deeply in the fabric of our dear nation,” said Melaye.

He said that, after a profound reflection on the current state of the party, he could no longer “in good conscience”, participate in his affairs or support his agenda.

Melaye is an ally of the former vice -president Atiku Abubakar who also resigned from the PDP at the beginning of the month.
