Former Brazilian president in prison 27 years due to coup

The Brazilian Federal Supreme Court has punished the former president of the country, Jair Bolsonaro, for more than 27 years in prison for trying a coup.

The country’s media reported on Friday that the majority of rooms of five STF members found it guilty of 70 years.

Bolsonaro was the first former Brazilian president who was sentenced to the coup, after his supporters stormed the Brazilian Congress, the Supreme Court, and the Presidential Palace on January 8, 2023.
