Former governor Ladoja crowned 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland-Thage

The former governor of the State of Oyo, Senator Rashidi adewolu Ladoja, was crowned the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland.

Governor Seyi Makinde presented the staff of the 81 -year -old monarch office in a colorful coronation ceremony held on Friday in Mapo Hall, Ibadan, the capital of the state.

Ladoja went to the throne after the disappearance of his predecessor, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin, on July 7, 2025.

The event attracted dignitaries including President Bola Tinubu, Oyo’s Alaafin, Oba Abimbola Owoade, Sukoto’s Sultan, Alhaji Saad Abubakar, former Governor of the State of Ogun, Ibikunle Amosun and 2023 Nnpp presidential candidate, Senator Rabiu Kwwwaso, among others.

Oba Rashidi adventu ladoja, Arusa I, brings with it decades of political, commercial and traditional experience.

His journey from the political gladiator to Monarch began with his election as a senator who represented Ibadan Central in 1992.

In 2003, he became governor of the State of Oyo, but was removed controversial by the office in 2005. It was subsequently restored by the courts in 2006.

In addition to politics, Ladoja has maintained his position as a successful businessman and respected statesman.

He constantly raised through the traditional hierarchy of the head of Ibadan, from Mogaji to Otun Olubadan, before finally mounting the revered throne.
