Fubara celebrates Eid-el-Fitr and calls for unity among Nigerians

Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has extended a warm greeting to Muslim faithful in the state and across Nigeria ahead of the Eid-el-Fitr celebration.

In a goodwill message released in Port Harcourt through his Chief Press Officer, Onwuka Nzeshi, the governor called for unity, peace and mutual respect among Nigerians of different religious backgrounds.

The message comes as the Sokoto Sultanate Council officially declares Friday the first day of Shawwal 1447AH, marking the end of the holy month of Ramadan and the nationwide celebration of Eid-el-Fitr.

Governor Fubara noted that the **Federal Government of Nigeria** has declared Thursday and Friday as public holidays to commemorate the festival.

He expressed hope that the celebration would bring joy, peace and harmony to citizens, regardless of religion, ethnicity or social background.

The governor stressed the importance of national unity, urging Nigerians to embrace diversity and promote tolerance and understanding in their daily interactions.

He also highlighted the values ​​associated with Ramadan, including compassion, forgiveness and generosity, encouraging citizens to uphold these principles beyond the festive period.

Fubara reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to promoting peaceful coexistence and strengthening ties between different communities in Rivers State.

Eid-el-Fitr marks the conclusion of Ramadan, a holy period observed by Muslims around the world through fasting, prayers and acts of charity.
