The national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, has categorically stated that there is no parallel executive in Enugu State, and that Mr. Ugochukwu Agballah remains the state chairman. This statement comes despite a court order barring Mr. Agballah from appearing as the party chairman in the state.
Ganduje, who was represented by his National Vice Chairman, South, Chief Emma Eneukwu, described the alleged suspension of the Agballah-led State Executive Committee as illegitimate. He claimed that the party’s National Secretariat was aware that the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) was fomenting a crisis in the party by using some members to weaken it and make it incapable of mounting a serious fight in the state.
Speaking on behalf of Ganduje, Eneukwu said: “There is no faction in APC Enugu. I am the National Deputy Chairman, in the South, and no one becomes the state Chairman in the South without my knowledge. The national chairman I represent does not know anyone else as the state chairman other than Chief Ugochukwu Agballah.”
He accused some party members of going to the Enugu State Government House to destabilize the party, and assured that the National Secretariat was taking steps to stop them. “There are people who go to the Enugu State Government House to ensure that the APC is not stable at all times. That has always been their signature. And they usually do this before elections.”

Ganduje directed those who announced the suspension to retract their move, apologise and return to the party.
“I order those who announced the suspension to retract their steps, apologize and return to the party. We are building a party to win the election, because we still need everyone in it.”
He appealed to party members not to be distracted and urged Agballah and stakeholders to bring back repentant members. “I appeal to Agballah and stakeholders in the state, if there are any of them who have repented, let us bring them back. We are building a party to win elections because we still need everyone in it.”
The meeting confirmed the suspension of 20 members involved in dragging the party to court and the alleged suspension of the state Chairman without going through the party’s internal mechanism. The stakeholders affirmed their participation in the Enugu State Local Government Elections slated for October 5, 2024.
