Ganduje resigns as National President APC – Thage

The national president of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, resigned from his position, with immediate effect.

The former media helper of the former president Muhammadu Buhari, Bashir Ahmad, confirmed the development in one post on X

“The national president of our large party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, resigned from his position, with immediate effect, as confirmed by multiple sources,” he wrote.

A source that is familiar with development said that Ganduje has mentioned health reasons for his decision, stating that he must focus on his well -being. Ganduje’s resignation are with immediate effect.

However, resignation are part of a strategic move by the party to power to calm the discontent increasing between the parties affected by the center-north area, which have constantly requested the return of the first party office to the region.

According to Esider accounts, Ganduje will be successful in the acting capacity by one of the national vice president of the party, until a substantial president is elected at the APC national convention scheduled for December 2025.

Ganduje was elected APC national president in August 2023, among the internal conflicts of the party. Before his elections, he was governor of the state of Kano from 2015 to 2023.
