Gloomy Jonathan recorded his obstacles in 2027 – Presidency

The Presidential stated on Monday that the term of office of former “disaster” former President of Goodluck Jonathan in the office would be a big obstacle if he chose to compete for the 2027 presidential election.

Special advisors about information and strategies for the President, Bayo Onanuga, stated this in a very strong statement in Abuja.

He reacted to claims by former information Minister, Jerry Gana, that Jonathan would compete for the country’s highest political office under the Democratic Party (PDP) of the people in 2027.

Onanuga refused Gana’s comment as “delusions,” and argued that the Nigerians would remember Jonathan’s bleak records at the office.

He stressed that the former president could not do his return after 12 years to defeat the President of Bola Tinubu.

He said: “The parade to the 2027 election prematurely was fired in the country with despair from the opposition that was conspiring against the President of Bola Tinubu despite his striking economic steps.

“One of the new statements that stand out in his absurdity is that Prof. Jerry Gana, former Minister of Information and National Orientation, moves to compile former President of Goodluck Jonathan into the 2027 Presidential Race.

“He stressed that the former president will compete for the upcoming elections on the discredited PDP platform, which bequeathed the legacy of economic ruins, after 16 years of poor government.

“Gana even deceived himself, stating that the former president would defeat President Tinubu to reclaim power after 12 years.”

Onanuga noted that the court might need to rule Jonathan’s feasibility, considering he was appointed twice as president and could face constitutional obstacles looking for a third term.

He warned Jonathan not to be misled by PDP loyalists who “coated with sugar” like Gana, said their motives were selfish, ethnic, religious, and politics.

Onanuga claimed that Jonathan would be abandoned by the same political elite, as in 2015, made him stranded politically again.

He acknowledged Jonathan’s constitutional rights to run but emphasized that Tinubu would welcome challenges while trusting the legal system to decide on eligibility.

The president’s assistant described a gloomy picture of Jonathan’s time in the office and accused him of being wrong with a weak economic and government.

“Let us remind ourselves about Jonathan’s notes. We cannot forget how the regime, does not have a clear economic agenda, be involved in reckless expenditure, running an aground economy, and placing the country in terrible difficulties.

“The decline in the country’s economy, which President Tinubu works very hard to overcome, actually starts under President Jonathan.

“Jonathan’s government is very damaging to the economy, and all the main indicators decrease under its supervision.

“Underneath, what is called Mogul Business allocates foreign exchange to import fuel, only pocketing dollars without importing anything. Some big men still have a court case about this problem today,” he added.

He also accused the massive corruption during the former president, especially in security spending, quoting his former national security adviser, Colonel Sambo Dasuki (RTD).

“In 2010, President Jonathan inherited a total of $ 66 billion, of which $ 46 billion was in foreign reserves and $ 20 billion in the noble crude oil account but was misused.

“In 2015, when people democratically moved it from the office, foreign reserves had dropped below $ 30 billion, and the excess of crude oil accounts had lowered to $ 2 billion, despite producing record revenues from crude oil sales that had never been achieved by the country in more than 25 years of combination.

“However, in December 2014, the federal government led by Jonathan could no longer pay salaries to federal civil servants. At least 28 states in the entire country owed workers who were in arrears,” the president’s aide concluded.
