Gov Alia distanced himself from the alleged plot to impeach the bent speaker

The Governor of the State of Benue, Hyacinth Alia, has distanced himself from a recognized step to impeach the speakers of the State Assembly, Hyacinth Dajoh.

House on Friday suspended Deputy Head of WHIP, Mr. Alfred Berger, and three others for three months due to alleged efforts to impeach the speaker.

Another suspended parliament member was Mr. Shimawua Emmanuel (Tiev), Mr. Cyril Ikong (OJU II), and Mr. Abu Umoru (APA).

In a statement issued by the head of his Press Secretary, Tesoo Kula, the Governor said he was not involved in an effort to cause a crisis in parliament.

Alia reiterated her commitment to the rule of law and the principle of separation of power in the state.

The statement reads: “Governor, Hyacinth Alia, did not know and did not have any involvement in any effort that was recognized to delete speakers or in any activity that is currently taking place at the Benue State Council.

“The governor holds the legislature at the highest price and maintains unwavering respect for the rule of law and the principle of separation of power between three arms of government. He consistently responds to communication and resolution transmitted to him by the Parliament.

“The Governor continues to enjoy a friendly and productive working relationship with the Assembly led by Dajoh, and remains committed to supporting him in carrying out his legislative tasks for the development of the entire state of the Benue state.”
